Meals Proactive Response to the Coronavirus

This is a special message to you, our valued customers. The novel coronavirus is here without giving us a "heads-up." I want to let you know that "Meals" has implemented what we are calling "A Counter-Defense Against the Coronavirus." This simply means that we are informing you of what actions you will see us take to create a barrier between the virus and the people. We will do our part. We ask you to join us in protecting one another. If you are reading this page, we ask that you visit our Facebook page and "like" us. By doing so, we are all avowing to be our Brothers and Sisters Keeper.


Meals Staff's Pledge


The World Health Organization (WHO) advises that standard recommendations to reduce exposure to and transmission of a range of illnesses are maintained. These include:


  • proper hand hygiene

  • cough/cold hygiene practices

  • safe food practices

  • avoiding close contact, when possible, with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.

As Food Workers we must wash hands:
  • before starting work

  • before handling cooked or ready-to-eat food

  • after handling or preparing raw food

  • after handling waste

  • after cleaning duties

  • after using the toilet

  • after blowing nose, sneezing or coughing

  • after eating drinking or smoking

  • after handling money

  • after touching objects: cell phones, keys, and other personal items.

Managers Pledge:

  • ensure that staff are trained appropriately in food hygiene

  • ensure effective supervision of staff to reinforce hygienic practices

  • provide the correct facilities, (e.g., hand washing, toilets, to enable staff to practice good hygiene

  • ensure staff report any physical symptoms/signs, before commencing work or while in the workplace

  • keep vigilant and ensure that staff are not ill and are fit to work.

With this pledge, we value and speak wellness for all.
